My otherwise healthy near 50 husband was involved in an accident and was advised by the occupational therapist before leaving the hospital to get a tray like this for the walker he was going to be using for the next 12+ weeks. The occupational therapist assured him it would dramatically increase his independence, as he could get a drink of water, or a plate of food, or even a DVD or magazine and have a way to carry it from one place to another while using the walker, and he wouldn’t need anyone to stay with him all day to help with such things (meaning I didn’t have to take a leave of absence from my job to care for him). My husband spent 2 evenings in the hospital researching all the options available on the market, and determined this tray was the best “bang for the buck”.When it arrived, I opened up the box and happily found that there was NO ASSEMBLY needed. (Hurray!) Attaching it to the walker was easy to do. I have rheumatoid arthritis, and I was able to attach the tray without any pain or assistance; you press the 4 clips against the walker and it pops right into place with no chance that it will fall off, slide around or otherwise loosen. The tray it’s self has 2 cup holders that accommodate both the large, lidded hospital type insulated cups as well as standard kitchen glasses and mugs. We found that filling a cup/glass/mug to 1 inch below the top was just right to avoid accidental spills when going over door thresholds, so you don’t have to suffer with 1/2 a cup of coffee when you need a full one. The tray will hold a plate of food, silverware and a napkin, and one drink in each cup holder, to take to a table. The tray folds flat against the walker front so you can maneuver the walker right up against a stove, sink or counter without having to lean forward at an awkward angle, and it didn’t leave scratches on wood cupboards. A quick wipe with a dish cloth, wash cloth, baby wipe or sponge, and the tray is clean and ready to go again. The crumbs and debris don’t get stuck in corners or the cup holders, they come right up. In short, it does what the occupational therapist said or would— it gives my husband the ability to do things independently. Let’s face it, needing help to get a drink of water and the tv remote is frustrating for everyone, patient and caretaker alike, and this makes it easy. You can’t put a price on sanity, but you can find ways to keep that sanity that don’t break the bank. The only downside we found in using this tray is static cling. The tray edge seemed to collect dog fur whenever one of our 2 Labrador Retrievers walked by. I found that if I squirted Static Guard on a cloth and wiped the tray edge, or I rubbed it with a fabric softener sheet, the dog fur would come right off and not return for a few days. Not a big thing, but you don’t want dog fur either. This is the tray I will be recommending to everyone I know if they are advised to get a walker. I can’t imagine how anyone can have a walker and NOT have a tray like this.My mother in law says it's a life saver. She can carry food, drinks, and other items around the house now. I don't know why trays aren't standard with walkers. How can a person walk with both hands on the walker without the tray? It's very sturdy. My husband loves the Nova Walker Tray. His wife easily installed it and now he can carry his dirty dishes from the table to the counter which helps his wife and he can carry books or snacks or drinks etc. easily from one place to the another. We love the fact that it can slide into a vertical position easily so he can walk safely inside the walker or he can leave it in a horizontal position and still wall easily with the walker. Putting a no-slip material on the tray is helpful for carrying dishes and breakable items. This tray is more expensive that many of the other walker trays but well worth the extra cost. Highly recommended! We got this for my husband's walker after knee surgery. When it's in place, it works well, and helps him be able to carry things from one room to another. However, it is difficult to install on the walker and doesn't just 'snap' into place. I need to maneuver it around (with some force) to lock it in so it sits in a stable position. This was so easy to install. It's easy to clean. It's sturdy and a mobility challenged person can easily transport a cup of coffee or drink as well as a plate and utensils. This tray folds down flat and doesn't interfere with folding the walker for transport. When the tray is up, it locks in place. It's easy to fold down when not needed. When up, the tray isn't exactly level, but that hasn't proven to be an issue.I purchased this for a friend who is using a walker due to an injury.Once someone was able to get it installed appropriately- it took 3 different men - my friend's independence increased immediately. She was able to unload her dish washer, make her own meals, no longer eat on a tv tray by her counter that people prepared for her, take things from one place to another... it is amazing. Her life changed not in one day but with one "tray". Worth every penny. The tray is study enough for her to transport her meal from the kitchen to her table. It alleviated the burden on others who were coming over to make her meals on and on.I recommend this highly. It did take effort to install it. It needs to be removed versus folding down. Especially getting it into a vehicle without space to place the walker unfolded.I purchased this to go on my dad's Walker so that he could be able to carry his plate from the kitchen to the living room without someone having to serve him all the time. It helps him feel more useful and increases his independence. It is a game changer!Adding this small tray to my junior, indoor walker has been most useful helping me transfer food items from chopping board to stove, plated food from kitchen to table; laundry basket from bedroom to laundry room, books from shelves to reading chair, etc, etc, etc... Downside is that tray must be removed to fold up walker but I am using cane now to transfer for short distances, so am just using walker in house, leaving tray on to help carry items safely from place to place. I place a tea towel on try to help prevent items from slipping while being moved. My mother started relying on a walker a couple years ago. She lives by herself, and was having a very difficult time carrying plates/bowls for meals, and just things in general. Looked into other walker trays that slide on over the top bars, but they take up the entire space inside the walker where your body needs to be. Unsafe for someone dependent on it for stability. This tray only takes up a small amount of room inside the walker, and is still easy to walk with it even when folded out. Bonus that you can flip the tray up (goes flat across the front of the walker) when not in use, and still be able fold the walker sides in for easier transport in vehicles without having to remove the tray. Raised sides around the tray are great for carrying food, and plenty of space on the tray for a full sized plate etc. Cup holders are great. Very easy to install, just push the arms onto the walker. No tools, just a small amount of muscle. A well thought out design, and great piece of equipment to have. It has proven to be very handy for her. Her walker has a bar across the top unlike the one shown in the picture so we weren't sure if it would work, but we just clipped the tray down a little lower so it goes under the bar and it works wonderfully. Very clever. The description and pictures can be clearer in demonstrating what kind of walker this works with, as it won't with many...seems most and that has nothing to do with the brand of walker.Seems like an excellent product sturdy but strong.Trouble was it did not fit the walker I had.The side supports were too long and did not fit. Also the enclosed instructions gave info on the types of walkers it fitted. This info and.Measurements on the web site would have been helpful and avoided the need to return although I must say that the return was really easy and refund prompt.Thank you.Works very well. My Mom in law was recuperating from a hip operation and this enabled her to carry her food/dishes to and from the kitchen. She was happy that she could gain her independence quicker.Cheap material major flaw in the design , does not fit any walker in the Canadian market, waist of time and money.
