I was familiar with thermal cooking in a thermos type enclosure so when I stumbled upon these I was intrigued. No you are not going to be able to cook beans in this other than with prolonged direct heat. But, everything else (grains, vegetables, sauces etc) so far have worked as promised. I am a lazy cook so less supervised time over a stove is attractive. Energy efficiency is another advantage. I later ordered the 1l version for smaller volumes to ensure less air space in the pan when cooking for efficiency. These do nest together for storage. It is a shame these and the durotherm line are not readily available in this country. I have had some bad experiences with international packages over the last several years. But despite the product just being placed in a bag with the product box being destroyed on both they arrived intact and in good shape.
